I blame the church nursery.
But I won't get started on that soapbox. ;)
Nathan woke up sick with a cold on Wednesday morning which of course meant that by Wednesday night I was coming down with it too. So, I woke up on Thursday feeling on the yuckier side. I was supposed to go write at Mom's house, but I called her and croaked out our reasons why we wouldn't be there.
So, at noon, Mom showed up at my house with two bags of groceries, medication, a vaporizer, two novels for me to read and two movies for Nathan.
I love my Mom so much. She spoils me completely rotten and I hope I grow up to be a mom just like her. :)
Nathan was stoked. Gammy brought him the "howse" (horse) movie - aka Tangled. It is SO funny to me that he will not sit still longer than three minutes through any other movie or TV show, but he'll watched Tangled usually almost all the way through. I don't mind - I think it's a cute movie too.
However, I was more stoked about the sick day excuse to sit and read through his whole nap time. Then Jon got home and I just kept reading. I finished one of the novels this morning. Y'all have no idea how much I've missed having just time to read.
We spent today in pajamas, played with his toys and as a special treat, he got to drink warm apple juice (oh the yumness - blegh) while he watched some of Tangled. His pediatrician had told me that was a good way to help his cough, so we've been trying it yesterday and today and it really has helped.
So, that's what we've been up to the past few days. I am sick of snot. However, someone was a bit cheerier today than the last two days, so I'm hoping we're on the mend and this will be a short-lived cold and not a spectacular display for the record books. ;)
Anyways. On to Friday Favorites!
1. My Mom
Have I mentioned that I love my mom? Because I do. A lot.
2. Tazo Decaf Chai Tea
Somewhere in the back of my brain I keep thinking I'll need to one day start using Crest Whitestrips because of this tea, but I really do love it. I go through phases and apparently right now is a tea phase. Don't get me wrong - I still love my coffee. But particularly when I'm sick, I love this tea. And it's decaf, so I feel like I can drink it right up until the point when I go to bed.
3. The "Howse" Movie
Nathan loves Tangled. He has two preferred ways of watching it. First one:
I love how he's got Wyatt, Lucky, his blanket, juice and his Gerber Cheeto things. All of his favorites in the world. ;)
And when the scenes get tense or when the "howse" shows up, he has to move here:
I think it's hilarious.
4. Frame Arrangement
I keep waiting for Hobby Lobby to mark their frames down so I can go get a few of these square frames. I love how they arranged this and I think it would look great in my living room.
5. Kitchen Play Sets
I've been looking at these for months for Nathan. We nearly bought him one for Christmas, but then changed our minds at the last minute and I'm sad we did. He loves, loves kitchens and anywhere we go that has a toy kitchen, he is there the entire time. I keep hoping he'll grow up to be a chef and come cook for his mom and dad. I'm hoping that if we get him one he'll be content to cook there and not have to "houlp" me cook and give me three mild heart attacks a night being that close to the stove and nearly falling off the chair he's standing on. Any of you have a kitchen play set that you love and would recommend?
I think that's it for me! Short list this week, but then I've been home for most of the week, so I don't really have a lot to share. ;) What are your favorites this week?
Have a great weekend!
I don't have kids, so I don't actually own a toy kitchen (anymore. 'Cuz I outgrew mine dozens of moons ago), but every time my mom and I are in Costco we admire their toy kitchen and wonder where it was when I was kid. Could be a good one. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely one of my favorites!! :) I love you much, sweet child of mine!
