Technically, it's not my birthday until tomorrow, but we've been living it up anyway.
Because that's just how we do it at this house. ;)
On Saturday, we got up late and went out to brunch at Mimi's Cafe, thanks to a free breakfast coupon I got for my birthday. Too fun! We felt sorry for all the sweet old ladies who were there trying to visit while Nathan yelled, "HI! HI!! HI!" and waved with chocolate covered hands.
Yesterday, Jon and I dropped the tot off at my parents' house and headed out for a date night courtesy of my wonderful brother-in-law and sister-in-law at this fabulous little restaurant in town. SO NEEDED. It's hard sometimes to only have Jon to myself at the end of the day when I'm exhausted and just want to veg on the couch. We spent so long at dinner we missed the movie we'd talked about going to, but it was worth it. :)
Dinner was delicious! It's fun to dress up and pretend to be gourmet. :) Thanks for watching Nathan for us, Mom and Dad!
AND... I have saved the best for the very last!!!
Remember the EXCITING news I had for you guys a few weeks ago?? Well, all the i's are crossed, all the t's are dotted (um, strike that. Reverse it) and I can now show you THIS:
Yay! It's a brand new, three book series coming your way very soon! It's tentatively titled Paige Rewritten - we'll see what the final title ends up being. I've been writing pretty much nonstop for the last three weeks on it - so very excited to share Paige with you all! :)
And all good news and birthdays must come with a contest, I think. Don't you? Contests are just party-ish feeling. :)
Leave a comment telling me who your favorite character was from one of my books and why and you'll be entered to win an autographed copy of your choice of my novels! YAY!! :) I'll pick the winner Wednesday night.
Happy commenting!
My favourite character has to be Laurie Holbrook! I can totally relate to her. Whenever I feel down I go and reread those books. I am SOOOOO excited about this new series! You are definitely my favourite author! God gave you a wonderful gift.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character was Lauren Holbrook. I tend to like characters that share my personality, and she and me are so alike!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is Maya Davis. I reread the series when I need a good laugh, because for some reason Maya reminds me of myself at times.
ReplyDeleteHi Erynn,
ReplyDeleteBeen keeping tabs on you in my reader but haven't commented in a while. My bad! Congrats on the new series! Love the title!
And I can't believe Nathan is 18 months already! Don't blink - the time just passes faster and faster.
Happy Birthday tomorrow.
Congrats on the new book series! So very excited! My favorite character is Laurie Holbrook! She just cracks me up and I love how coffee can pretty much solve any problem!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Maya. She's so sincere in her walk with God, and I found myself identifying with her a lot. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad there's another series coming out soon! I've read and re-read the Lauren and Maya books so many times. They just never get old. :)
ReplyDeleteIf I have to pick just one favorite character, I'd have to pick Ryan. He's just a super nice guy that wants the best for those he loves. It's exactly what I want in a guy.
I love all the girls in the books but my favorite character has to be Jack in the Maya Davis series. He is such a man of God and has a wonderful way of calming maya down when she is upset, which is something every lady needs in a man (or is it just me that needs it!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great books! I have my girlfriends from the Christian fellowship addicted as well :)
I love Maya Davis. She drew me in from the beginning and made me want to read more.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! :) Hope it's a blessed one!
ReplyDeleteBrandon Knox is without a doubt my favorite character. His humor kept me laughing out loud!
Can't wait for the new series! It will be at the top of my list!
-Ashlin
My favorite character has always been Lauren's sister Lexie. She's witty, amusing, full of Jane Austen references, and just a little bit crazy. I love, love, love your books and am really excited for the new series!
ReplyDeleteI actually can't pick a character because i like them all! I remember going shopping at a goodwill store in my hometown and picking up one of your books. After, i read your very first book i had to see if you wrote anymore. Good thing i found your first book! You're an amazing author and i can't wait to read some of your other books i haven't had the chance to read. I've been slacking since i have my 2 kids to take care. I look forward to your new books though! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is Ryan , he is always nice and funny and he cares and even though I can't see him I still think he is pretty cute too. Definately my favorite :)
ReplyDeleteLauren Holbrook is one of my favorite's because she is so fun loving and totally embraces life. She doesn't have all of the answers, but she's okay with that. She wholeheartedly trusts God with the unknown that is her life.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is Maya Davis from your Cool Beans series. I could relate to just about every aspect of Maya (even the fact that I leave stiick notes all around to help me remember things. I was so stuck on these books, that I read all three of them in three days. I can't wait to read your next series! Happy Birthday :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is Maya Davis. I can completely relate to her and I love to make lists :) Also, I loved her and Jack's relationship.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is Lauren!!! I fell in love with your first books and all the characters in them!
ReplyDeleteHappy early birthday! (My half birthday is today!)
I am very excited about the new books that will be coming!!
Mandy H.
Hey Erynn, Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite character would have to be Jen Mitchell from the Maya Davis series. She is such a devoted best friend to Maya. I love how she eats healthy most of the time but when her and Maya have a girly time she throws the health food out the window and digs into the ice-cream!
My favourite character would have to be a tie between Ryan and Maya. One, becuase I want to marry someome like Ryan. (Who doesn't right?) And two, becuase I can really relate to Maya - she is a lot like me except for the fact that I'm about 6 inches taller. Thanks God :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
I hope your day was amazingly incredibly blessed :)
YAY! I am so excited that you are writing us another series. THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteI got Sketchy Behavior for Christmas and I put off reading it for about a week (that's as long as I could make it) because I knew that once I finished I would have read all your books :( But now I am happy that you are writing more.
My favorite character is Jack, because he is awesome and funny and he works in a zoo - how cool is that? Or course I also love Lauren and Maya and their chocoholic, ice cream-indulging personalities as well.
Definitely Maya :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to learn more about Paige! Gosh, I wish I were as prolific as you
Happy Birthday Erynn! I have to say I'm so glad God created you! For many reasons, but high on the list is because your writing is fantastic and the fact that I have been craving books that are written for my age group that are not written in a time period that does not relate to me at all, and you have provided that! Thankyou!
ReplyDeleteAlso, my fav character would have to be Shawn Merson! Any man who can bake is good with me and he has also encouraged me bake and perfect chocolate pies and brownies! Yum! His only down side is that whenever I am reading the books I need to have coffee and brownies in hand, which does not bode well for my waist measurement! :)
Laurie Holbrook is probably my favorite but I haven't actually gotten to read the rest of the Maya series so guess I can't be sure yet :)
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to hear about the new series :) My favorite character has to be Lauren Holbrook. She is so easy to relate to and always cracks me up!
ReplyDeleteLoved Ryan! He seemed to have such a great heart, really loved Laurie, and brought her coffee regularly. Did I mention he brought her coffee?
ReplyDeleteSo excited you're working on a new series!
My favourite character is Ryan. Ryan is a great friend and was patient with Lauren. Not only did they take time (about 3 years from meeting to marriage) but Ryan loves Lauren despite all her quarks and charms. He thinks she's a bit crazy, but loves her all the same. I am patiently waiting for my own Ryan!
ReplyDeleteThese books are amazing and I have read them every year since I discovered them!
(I live in Canada....can I still win?!?!)
Happy Birthday, Erynn, and thanks so much for sharing your special evening! How exciting about the new series coming along, all right! My fave character is Lauren Holbrook because she makes me laugh every time I read Miss Match and she LOVES coffee as much as I do :) I just enjoy her personality and her faith so much! Thanks for this giveaway :)

So excited for new books! That's always good news.
ReplyDeleteI really loved Maya. I just related to her very strongly. Also, I loved her dry humor. I make lame jokes like her and then laugh to myself while anyone in earshot pity laughs and shakes their head. :)
yay! a new series!
ReplyDeletemy favorite character would have to be Ryan Palmer. As much as I love Laurie, I think he pretty much makes the series. He's just too darn sweet, cute, and perfect for her :)
My favourite character was definitely Laurie Holbrook. This is mainly because I appreciate how vivacious she is. All of your characters are very real, in that while I'm reading the books (cool beans etc included) I'm almost in them, I like Laurie best probably because we know her best due to the narration. A boring reason to like her, but a true one :) Of course all of the characters are great.
ReplyDeleteI both like Lauren Holbrook and Maya Davis :) I am both alike them in many ways :) with Lauren it would be our love of chocolate and how we both need caffiene to function, and with Maya it would be her post it note obsession, I often write down random things on bits of paper with reminders etc on. I honestly love all your charcters and can't wait to read your new series I am needing a few decent books to read.
ReplyDeleteOn another note I lent my younger sis sketchy behavour and she read it in about 3 days flat (for that is very fast) and loved it!
Happy Birthday I am glad you and Jon had a well deserved date night :)
It's so hard to pick just one character to like. I fell in love with your books after reading about Maya and Jack, but when I read about the Holbrook family, I was addicted. That entire family is amazing! Whether it was by marriage or by blood, the Holbrook family is weaved together so tightly and beautifully! It was a joy to get to know them!
ReplyDeleteI have to say Maya would have to be my favorite. But I really like them all. You have to be my favorite author just because your books are have it all in them the serious, funny and of course God. I can't wait to read more from you.
ReplyDeleteFavorite character: Lauren Holbrook. :) She was confident and could easily laugh at herself.
ReplyDeleteLauren Holbrook. Everything about her I could relate to, even random Princess Bride quotes. I read the whole series driving to and from Colorado from Indiana. Looking forward to getting to know Paige!
ReplyDeleteLauren.......cause she was totally funny and the things she could get in just had you laughing hysterically!!! :-) loved that series!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Erynn, I have recently discovered your books and I'm addicted! Can't wait to see the new series and meet those characters but until then, I'd have to say that my favorite is Lauren. There is just something about her that makes her so relatable.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is definitely Laurie, although in personality, I am probably most like Ruby. I'm excited about a new series, but does that mean we won't hear anymore about Kate?

I think my favorite is Lauren. When I found your book I was just around her age in the series, all my friends were getting married and I was in 20-something-single-limbo. Well still am, but I've embraced the single season. I'm also a photographer and can relate to Lauren on multiple levels. Great books. Thanks for your ministry through fiction!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I haven't read any of these books-with-the-beautiful-covers yet, but I feel like I'm going to like Paige, because I know what it feels like to want a "rewrite." :) So not sure if this counts as a giveaway entry or not, but happy birthday and congratulations! :)

Hmmm....I LOVE MissMatch!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Girl! Thank you for letting God channel through you and down on paper! You have an amazing gift! My favorite character is definitely Laurie. She reminds me so much of myself; I am THE matchmaker of Mississippi(in my opinion: others call me the Meddler), and I am addicted to coffee and chocolate just as bad! Thanks for sharing your great stories with the public!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say that Ryan is totally my favourite! I lov ehim because he's such a sweet, amazing, CHRISTIAN guy, and he makes me hopeful that i can find my Ryan someday!!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Happy Birthday!!
My favorite character is Laurie Holbrook! I love her because she is goofy, loves coffee and chocolate, and she is very like me! Very excited about the new series!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character would have to be Ryan. He is so funny and ou can tell that he cares for Laurie. I'm excited for your new series to come out I love your books.
ReplyDeleteI definitely loved Lauren Holbrook because she was just so funny and loveable! The series also got me started AND addicted to coffee!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!! :)
ReplyDeleteI would have to say Lauren, just because her series was the first that I read, and the reason that I continued to read your books! :)
I am so excited for your new series!!!! I love your books!!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite character is definitely Laurie. She entertains me so much! I also really like Ryan, too, though. :)
Oooo.. I should go read the books again :D
Happy birthday!!
oh yeah, and I'm from Canada, but I just wanted to comment anyway, even if I cant win. :)
Congratulations and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! My favorite character is definitely Maya Davis - there were times where I felt like we were one in the same.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I have to agree with the others who have said Lauren. She is so stinkin hilarious! I love all the characters in your books, though. Can't wait to read the new series!
ReplyDeleteI definitely love Lauren Holbrook! She's your original character, and she runs into many of the same problems almost all Christian girls run into! We can relate!
ReplyDeleteMy Favorite character was Ryan in the Laurie Holbrook series! He was just the perfect guy ever!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character...hmmm so hard! I think it would have to be Laurie Holbrook. She makes me laugh on days when laughing seems so distant. I love those books! You are a fenom. author. SOOOO excited for the new series. =D
ReplyDeleteI would have to say I love Laurie and Ryan the most. I love them individually but then even more when they are together. Laurie is one of my favorites because she holds nothing back. She loves God and makes that a priority in what she does. I love Ryan because he really cares about others. I loved seeing his protective nature over Ruby as well. I love the two of them together because to be honest it gives me hope. They bring out the best in each other, goof off, and truley love each other. I love your books and am so excited to read about Paige!
ReplyDeleteWell of course i love Lauren and Ryan, i mean, who doesnt? But my favorite character has to be Hannah. She is so down to earth and funny. I feel like she is someone i would want to be like when im older. Her relationship with Lauren reminds me alot of my relationship with my best friend! When she came to know Christ i was absolutely hooked. She is by far the best of the bunch:)
ReplyDeleteFavorite character? Hmmm... that's hard! I really like Lauren Holbrook, but then it's been a while since I've read the Maya Davis books... maybe it's time for a reread!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character out of your novels would be Maya Davis. She's portrayed as a strong Christian woman, but still stumbles at times making her very easy to relate to. Every time I read any of the books in that series I see something that she's going through that can relate to my life. Also, her sense of humor makes me laugh and we share an obsession with coffee!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday and can't wait for your next series to come out!! God is definitely using in so many ways through your writing!
My favorite character is Laurie! Definitely! She reminds me somuch of me and cracks me up. I even started calling my cousin Laurie Girl because of the books! I just love her spunk. :)
ReplyDeleteLauren!!! She's crazy cool, movie junky, loves her family and friends, coffeeholic, has such a cool job and more importantly she loves JESUS!!!
ReplyDeleteMy Favorite Character I'd have to say is Jack Dominguez from the Maya series. I'm not married yet, but he to me is a great model for how I would like a guy to be: having a good personal relationship with Christ, being sweet and thoughtful, and caring not only for the physical and emotional person, but also about the spiritual growth and health of the person they love.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is Laurie. She loves God, is so fun and we could definitely be friends! Hope that you had a great birthday!! : )
ReplyDeleteLauren Holbrook was defintaly my favorite character. I especially loved her wit and devotion to God. I have reread that series a ridiculous amount of times and I have yet to get tired of them. :) Thank you so much for using the gift God gave you. (sorry, I'm not trying to copy what others have said). I am estatic for your new series!
ReplyDelete- Allie S.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope your day/week/month/year is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIf I had to pick ONE favorite character, I'd say Laurie...although whenever I read any books in the Lauren Holbrook series I feel as though I am in the midst of good friends with characters like Laurie, Brandon, Hannah, Ryan, and Shawn. :) What a fun group of characters! In some ways, I can relate to Hannah...at first Laurie judged her by her outward appearance, but then they became close friends. :) Love it!
I love Maya Davis. I so enjoyed that series. She is just so real and so much fun. I love her sense of humor and that even though she struggles sometimes, she ultimately trusts God.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is actually Lexi from the Lauren Holbrook series. She reminds me in so many ways of my sister who lives too far away to see as often as I'd like, so reading how she treats Laurie is kind of like being around my sister, if that makes sense. :)
ReplyDeleteI've loved reading your books and can't wait until the new series is released!
I have to say it's a tie between Laurie and Maya. They both love God and coffee like me!! But since I have probably reread Laurie's series more than I want to admit, I have to go with Laurie.
ReplyDeleteVery excited to hear there will be some new reads soon! I found your books on a friend's bookshelf over Thanksgiving years ago and was quickly hooked (I even begged her to let me take them back with me to grad school and she kindly obliged!). Have enjoyed each of the books since and novellas as well.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character would have to be Ryan. The Lauren Holbrook series may always be my favorite since it was the first I read and Colorado is my home (in my heart even if no longer on my license). More than just the series, though, was that I loved his character. Such a balance between funny and genuine care for those he loves. Love that they met over Oreos and his bit of relentless, but good hearted, teasing. Just over a year ago my sister started talking to a guy back home and everything she described about him sounded like Ryan. I think I trusted him from the start because of that and am thrilled that he will soon join our family for real. And the icing on the cake? his name is Ryan too and boy does he live up to his "namesake"! Can't wait to meet many other wonderful characters in the new series.
Oh wow, such exciting news for you, Erynn! (and for all your readers ;)...) I think my favorite character so far has been Maya. I just felt like I could relate to her :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Laurie!! She is so crazy and she loves coffee! I can not wait to read your new series!
ReplyDeleteI loved Lauren the best. I loved her humor!!!!! She had me laughing and laughing!!!! :D
ReplyDelete
