Nathan and I have just been hanging out at home today. I've been working on writing and he's been doing his normal play time with his toys.
And he has a new favorite:
Juice! (When you consider how much actual juice I put in there, is really just apple flavored water. Ha!)
I realized today is the first day where we have been home ALL DAY since I don't even remember when. Which is probably why both of us where just kind of sitting there looking at each other for a little bit today like, "What do we do now?"
But then a tickle fight started and we got a little distracted.
This could explain why my carpet has stains all over it now.
He still has a little bit of a problem getting it to all stay in his mouth. Evidenced by his collar. :)
I'm so excited about my upcoming Kindle release! :) But it's got me thinking - what are things you look for when you are picking out a new book to read? Cover art? A friend's recommendation? What plays into your decision?
I hate to admit it... but cover art plays a HUGE role in what I read. I'm more willing to give a book a try that has good cover art as opposed to one that doesn't. Also, amazon recommendations. I've bought so many books on my kindle now that Amazon knows pretty much what I like.
ReplyDeleteHowever, there are certain Authors... such as you, Kristin Billerbeck, Francine Rivers, etc. that I always read. Always.
All of the above! Reviews, friend recommendations and when all else fails I've definitely been drawn into a good read by the cover art. I'm a tad bummed about the kindle release though. I am an amazon addict but, for now, the kindle cannot read the 100,000+ titles in our public library's electronic collection so I opted for a nook. Any chance you'll ever release an e-book through barnes and noble as well?
ReplyDeleteI am actually reading Cool Beans on my Nook right now! It is a free download this week. Very good too!
ReplyDeleteCover art is definitely a factor because if it is a new author, that will be enough to get me to pick it up to read the description. However, certain authors are must reads.
ReplyDeleteCover art is a factor for me too. If I like the cover I'm more likely to read the book. However if it is an author I like I'll read the book anything.
ReplyDeleteIf I am looking for a book online, I just usually go by the storyline of the book. However, if I am still not sure if I will like it or not I read the readers reviews and that usually helps me make up my mind. Cover art does not play into my decision to read a book. Also, me and my best friend both like the same kind of books, so if she recommended a book I would probably read it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, anonymous! Since I have read all of Erynn's books I hadn't actually searched for them in nookbooks. I'm definitely snapping up my free copy of "Cool Beans" to re-read electronically!
ReplyDeleteI know your not suppose to judge a book by its cover but, I have a bad habit of doing that. So I choose a book on cover art. Or my best friend gives me recommendations and I give her some too.

Cover art, story line, reviews/recomendations, and if it's on sale :) lol.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any "must read authors." But I'm looking for some. Any suggestions?
cover art and also if I have read from the author, sometimes if web sites recommend it then i consider it but, not as much
ReplyDeleteI choose books for such a variety of reasons! Favorite authors, recommendations, good reviews, interesting sounding plots...but if it's just a completely random choice, it is definitely based on cover art.
ReplyDeleteCover art is huge. It's always the first thing to grab me, and to be honest, if it's not eye catching, I probably wouldn't pick it up even to read a description. Once I pick up a book that I do love, I tend to gravitate torward that author and discover other books that are really good, I just never picked them up since they didn't have bright, eye-catching covers. Sad, eh?
ReplyDeleteFriends recommendations only go so far, since most of my friends have different tastes.
