Every Moment of the Day, It Is The Right Time

34
I want to start this off with a quick prayer request. I follow a blog by a girl named Kelly and one of Kelly's friends just delivered a baby yesterday. Everything was supposed to be perfect, but the baby wasn't breathing when it was born and now she's been in a coma since birth. Please be praying for this little one and for the sweet parents! I can't even imagine the heartbreak going on right now. But, God is the worker of miracles!

You know, a few years ago, I was kind of struggling with this whole idea of prayer. If God is sovereign (and I believe He is), then why do we pray? If He has already planned the outcome, why would our prayers make any difference?

After spending lots of time in the Word and in prayer wondering about this, I think I have a really simplistic answer. I'm not a theologian, I don't claim to know enough to amount to even the size of a cornflake. But here are my thoughts:

Prayer does have an effect. We are told to "pray without ceasing", the disciples asked the believers to "pray for us", the early church devoted themselves to prayer. And, on Christ's last night on earth, He spent a vast amount of that time in fervent prayer. Remember what He ended with? "Not My will, but Yours be done."

I think that's the key with prayer. Prayer unites believers. Prayer changes our hearts, not necessarily God's will. Prayer draws us closer to Him and to the Christians around us.

I believe there are three answers God gives to prayers: 1) Yes, for My glory. 2) Not now, for My glory. 3) I have better plans for you, for My glory. It's all about His glory.

So let's pray. For this little baby and her Christian parents. That just as Christ raised the little girl in Luke, He will heal this little one.

I know there are SO many, many other prayer requests out there! Please, please feel free to leave requests in the comments box and know that I will be praying. And also, would you all please join me in praying for any requests as well?

On a side note, for those of you out there who love to write, I have news for you! If you've ever wondered how to start a book, how to come up with a character, what every writer's two favorite words are, or even how to get published, then this is for you! You are very excitedly welcomed into becoming a Scribble Chick. You can find out more about us here!
